The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has reported active tropical weather patterns across the Atlantic as of September 17,
A tropical wave in the central Atlantic, with its axis near 34W and south of 16.5N, is producing scattered moderate convection between 10N and 17N. Another tropical wave in the eastern Caribbean, with its axis near 70W and south of 22N, is also generating scattered moderate convection from 17N to 22N. Additionally, the monsoon trough and Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) are contributing to scattered moderate convection in the Atlantic, particularly from 06N to 11N west of 20W and between 45W and 49W. Impact & Risks

The tropical waves and associated convection are expected to bring heavy rainfall and thunderstorms to affected areas in the central Atlantic and eastern Caribbean. The Gulf of Mexico is experiencing fresh to strong winds and moderate seas in the northeastern and north-central regions, which may pose risks to marine activities. In the Caribbean, fresh to strong trade winds and seas of 6 to 8 feet are expected in the south-central region, potentially impacting small vessels and coastal activities.
